The Centennial Trail Story

Centennial Trail Community, Inc., originally opened in 1960 and is now a 15-home, resident-owned manufactured home community.

But that transition didn’t happen overnight. We formed the Centennial Trail Community, Inc. and started on the path to resident-ownership in 2022. That’s when, with the help of NeighborWorks Montana and ROC USA, LLC, we purchased and took control of our community on September 30, 2022.

Now, the resident-owned community (ROC) is not only a successful business, but also a thriving neighborhood.

The process of the resident-owned community buying the land beneath our neighborhood brought this community closer together. Not only do we know far more of our neighbors than ever before, but we look out for one another, too. And with no outside landlord to report to, we’re the envy of other nearby manufactured home communities.

Our Member households elect our Board of Directors, which works with a property management firm and also appoints various volunteer committees to help with special projects, celebrations, community improvements and more. The Board submits a budget every year, and the entire Membership votes on it and any changes to the rent before the budget becomes official. We’re running the business that is our community on our terms, by our rules, for the betterment of ourselves and our neighbors.

Centennial Trail is a well-established community in Columbus, Mont., for people who enjoy convenient access to the city, and also want to be in a secluded area providing a peaceful place to call home. We are located five minutes from downtown Columbus and close to shopping, grocery stores and schools, including favorites like the Whistle Stop Cafe and The Beartooth Beanery.

Centennial Trail is an ideal spot for adventure lovers. The Yellowstone River is nearby where fly fishing and river rafting are favorite activities for those living in our area.

We are ideally situated near Interstate 90 making travel to Bozeman and Billings very convenient. Bozeman is 1.5 hours away and Billings is 45 minutes away. Highway 211 runs to Red Lodge and Yellowstone National Park. We are a family and pet friendly community and Granite Peak Park with a beautiful playground where children love to play is less than a mile away. There are so many local amenities at our fingertips, including a golf course, an airport, a library and a museum and this quiet community is a gateway to the Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains.

Centennial Trail is a well-established community for people who enjoy a welcoming neighborhood in an ideal location.

Ask anyone who lives in Centennial Trail, and we’re sure they’ll tell you it’s a little slice of heaven.
